Chap 1 - Itachi
Stepping out into the sunset I felt alone... What was I thinking? I'm not alone, I have the whole of Akatsuki behind me. I have Kisame by my side helping me to do what I need to do. So what is this feeling? It is like a constant longing for someone...
My thoughts wandered to that day several years ago. I was sent to go off to the Leaf Village, or rather I volunteered, because I wanted to see how my little brother was doing. It's certainly not him I'm missing.
It was a beautiful sunset through the trees.
I remembered seeing a little blonde boy who went by the name of Naruto.
The Nine Tailed Fox. A Jinchuuriki. I immediately started to jump out of my hiding spot, but Kisame held me back.
"It's not yet time!" he whispered. "Leader sent us here to spy. Not to get the Kyuubi."
I grumbled, thinking that this was a pretty good chance. The boy was alone.
Soon, my brother came sliding up the road, wearing that look on his face, a look that he gained several years ago. I licked my lips thinking of what happened that day.
"Delicious..," I whispered.
Kisame looked at me and said, "You aren't taking out anyone. We were sent here to spy on the Kyuubi. I told you that."
I started to protest, then realized he was right. After sitting in the tree for a while, I started to get bored.
"Kisame do you think you could keep watch alone for a while? I'm gonna take a nap."
"Itachi are you crazy? Take a nap?"
"C'mon man this is so boring. If my little brother is the only one protecting the Kyuubi, then I say take the little guy out right now, and get the Naruto kid right now."
Then I spotted her out of the corner of my closing eye. A pink haired girl striding up the street, with a big grin and her hand raised in greeting.
"Sasuke-kun!" I heard her yell. "How are you today?"
I blinked a little, then felt a twinge of jealously in my chest. Jealousy? Jealous of Sasuke, my little brother?... I couldn't understand. Yet I felt my eyes following the pink haired girl up the street, throwing an occasional glance my brother.
Naruto almost immediately ran up to her, going, "Hey there Sakura-san!"
The pink haired, 'Sakura' completely ignored the Kyuubi and sauntered up close to Sasuke's side, giggling.
"Well Sasuke-kun are you going to be shy today too? Or are you going to finally confess your dying love for me?"
Naruto looked up from where he was down, and sighed.
"Why do all the girls like him?" he muttered.
I can feel you, Naruto. But Sakura is not the girl for you.
I looked back at Sasuke and Sakura.
Sasuke seemed to be looking off into the distance. "Sakura... you're annoying..."
My heart brightened up slightly at these words, but I thought, annoying? she is the image of perfection. The very image. A goddess.
Sakura looked downcast at Sasuke's words. The sight of her so sad made me angry. How could Sasuke do this?
"Itachi, Itachi!" I looked startled. It was Kisame. "I've been trying to get your attention for several minutes now, man! Where were you? I saw you staring at that little pink haired girl. She's too young for you, and she's in Konoha. Get a grip, man!"
"Um, no Kisame..," I muttered. "I-it's not like that..."
But I knew it was like that. And very much so.
I came out of my daydream and stared into the sinking sun. Leaning against a rock, I sighed. My heart would not rest until that pink haired girl was mine.
Chap 2 - Sakura
I crossed my gloved hands over my chest and leaned against a tree, bending my head downwards slightly. There was a beautiful sunset, one that was much more beautiful at the top of the hill like this.
"I feel so alone," I thought.
I shook my head, wondering where that thought came from. I have Sasuke-kun and Kakashi behind me, and even a little bit of Naruto... So where was this loneliness coming from?
My thoughts whirled back to a dark night many years ago. I was sleeping soundly in my bed, when a click noise from my window startled me awake. A figure climbed through the window. My started to beat very fast. It was a man with long black hair tied back into a little ponytail. I was scared, because I looked into his eyes... they were just like Sasuke-kun's and Kakashi-sensei's Sharingan!
Was this Kakashi or Sasuke in disguise? I didn't think so. They wouldn't come in such an unstately way.
I held my breath and continued to pretend I was asleep.
The man walked over and whispered, "It's ok, my dear little Sakura. I know you're awake. And I hope you won't be afraid of me."
"Who are you?" I managed to squeak.
"I cannot tell you that right now..."
He walked over and brushed my hair back, kissing me on the forehead.
Not Kakashi, I thought. What about Sasuke? Could be.
"S-Sasuke-kun?" I stammered.
"Is that the boy you love? Well I'll tell you he isn't right for you. He has a cold heart incapable of loving anyone."
"What do you mean, sir?"
"Nothing, my dear pink-haired Sakura. Nothing. I trust you will tell no one about our encounter."
And with that the strange man went back out the window, and I went back to sleep almost instantly.
"Sakura, Sakura!"
I was snapped out of my thoughts by Naruto's voice. His annoying voice.
"You looked like, totally zonked out there. Were you thinking about me?" he asked slyly.
"You little... Of course I wasn't thinking about you! I wouldn't think about you or care about you even if you PAID me!"
I slapped my hand over my mouth. My words were a little too harsh.
Naruto looked stunned, then his face turned angry.
"Well if that's how you feel about me, then I'm never talking to you again! There!"
"Wait, Naruto I didn't mean it like that..."
"Then you shouldn't have said it."
